CFSA Awards $300,000 in Grants for General Operating Support through New Grantmaking Program – CORE Grants
This grantmaking strategy confronts the 21st-century challenges and looks to achieve more significant community impact
TUCSON, Ariz., (October 11, 2017) – Recognizing a need to support nonprofits with flexible funding, the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) announced they awarded $300,000 in grants for general operating support funds to ten high-impact nonprofits in Southern Arizona.
“Our research showed that providing high-impact organizations with flexible funding leverages their ability to make a difference,” stated Sandra Nathan, Senior Vice President of Philanthropic Services and Community Investments at CFSA. “These funds will provide nonprofits with the flexibility they need to focus on their core mission and foster a deeper partnership with CFSA in improving the life of people and places in Southern Arizona.”
As the name suggests, CORE grants look to support fundamental needs, including administrative costs, program expenses or salaries. CFSA believes that for the nonprofit community to improve the life of people and places in Southern Arizona, they need the core unrestricted working capital to leverage their impact.
The CORE grants were awarded to the following organizations:
CORE Grantee’s were carefully and rigorously evaluated over the past three months by committees of both staff and community representatives who made sure each application upheld the CORE values of community, organizational sustainability, results and effective programs.
“The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is excited to see in what innovative and impactful ways these organizations will use CORE support. We look forward to being their partner as they tell the story of why general operating support is so meaningful and important to high impact nonprofits.” said Kelly Huber Director, Strategic Grants and Initiatives at CFSA.
The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is committed to supporting nonprofit organizations with general operating support and looks forward to lasting partnerships with our donors and the community that will enable us to make this grant program a priority in future years.
