High School Summer Opportunities

Technology Summer Institute:

JobPath has worked with Pima Community College, ASU Polytechnic and the University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences on a cooperative extension program, the Technology Summer Instutute for the last 3 years. The Technology Summer Institute has stimulated workforce development and education in the areas of solar energy and energy cells and career opportunities in optics.  Due to funding constraints, we will not be offering this program for Summer 2010. However, we are actively promoting two wonderful summer opportunites for high school students.

The Biotechnology Summer Institute Program offers high school students who reside in Pima County the opportunity to take a biotechnology course at Pima Community College West Campus for a charge of $250 (includes books). Students will attend a 4 hour class, five days per week from June 1 - July 2, 2010.

The University of Arizona Optics Summer Academy for Young Scholars provides high school students the opportunity to learn about lasers, transmitting music through a laser beam and more. It is a great introduction for students who enjoy science and are curious to learn new technologies and cutting edge research that will impact our future. It runs June 28 - July 2, 2010 from 12:30pm - 4:30pm at the U of A College of Optics.
